Privacy Policy

KaaSawa ("we", "us") is a personal wardrobe app that lets you photograph your clothes, organise them, build and log outfits, and share looks. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using KaaSawa you agree to this policy.

1. Who we are

KaaSawa is operated from Kenya. For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@kaasawa.com. For the purposes of the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, we act as the data controller for your information.

2. What we collect

• Account information. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. If you continue as a guest, we create an anonymous account identified only by a random ID — no name or email.
• Your content. The clothing photos you upload, item names, the categories assigned, the outfits you build, and any details you add (date, event, location, people met).
• Technical data. Your IP address (used only to rate-limit and prevent abuse of the AI feature), basic usage statistics via Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless — does not track you across sites), usage and engagement statistics via Google Analytics (uses a cookie — see section 7), and, if something breaks, diagnostic data such as device/browser type and the error itself via our error-monitoring tool, Sentry.

3. How we use your data

• To provide the service — store your wardrobe, build and display outfits, and let you share looks.
• To automatically categorise your clothes using AI (see section 5).
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
• To understand, in aggregate, how the app is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show third-party advertising.

4. Where your data is stored

Your data is hosted on Supabase (database, authentication, and a private file store for your photos) and served through Cloudflare. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, and access controls ensure each user can only reach their own data. Your photos are kept in a private store and shown to you through short-lived, signed links.

5. AI categorisation

To label your clothes, a low-resolution copy of an item photo is sent to Groq, an AI inference provider, which returns a single category word. The image is processed to generate that label and is not stored by us for any other purpose. We never send your name, email, or other identifying details with it.

6. Third-party processors

We rely on these providers to run KaaSawa, each under their own privacy terms: Supabase (hosting, database, storage, authentication), Groq (AI categorisation), Cloudflare (content delivery, security, and privacy-friendly analytics), Google (optional sign-in, and Google Analytics for usage statistics), Sentry (error monitoring, so we can find and fix bugs), and Better Stack (uptime monitoring — it checks that our servers are responding; it does not receive any of your personal data). Some of these process data on servers outside Kenya; by using KaaSawa you consent to this international transfer.

7. Cookies & local storage

We store a sign-in token in your browser's local storage so you stay logged in — this is essential to the app and isn't a tracking cookie. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless. Google Analytics does use a cookie to distinguish sessions and measure how the app is used (e.g. which features people engage with) — it does not carry advertising cookies, and we don't use it for cross-site tracking or ad targeting. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies of any kind.

8. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete everything at any time (section 9). We may periodically remove inactive guest accounts and their data.

9. Your rights & choices

You have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your data. KaaSawa gives you self-service tools in the app:

• Export — download a copy of your wardrobe, outfits and profile as a file (Settings → Export my data).
• Delete — permanently erase your account, photos and all data (Settings → Delete my account). This cannot be undone.

You may also email support@kaasawa.com to exercise any right, or to lodge a complaint with Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

10. Children

KaaSawa is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be made clear in the app.
